British Invasion Show

British Invasion Spice Girls Tribute

British Invasion (Bonnie Tyler Tribute)

The retro Rock ‘n’ Roll nights will feature 1950s music and entertainment, drinks on offer will include the classic American milkshakes, soda and floats. The menu will be a play on some of the great music legends of that era offering a tomato salad called 'Chuck Berry Salad,' a spicy meatball dish titled 'Great Balls of Fire' from the song of Jerry Lee Lewis and a dessert of fruit and vanilla sauce named from Little Richards song 'Tutti.'

Nautical nights will include as the name suggests a seafaring theme with entertainment and shows. The specially designed "Anchors Away" menu will include fish and seafood dishes such as a ‘Cornish Crab Bisque’ starter and a ‘Surf and Turf’ main course. For vegetarians, a ‘Porthole of Yorkshire Pudding’ will be available with veggie sausages.

The International night will be a celebration of world cruising from ships to destinations. The menu will entail a combination of dishes from around the world such as a starter choice of Thai Crab cakes or California Roll and the mains choice will be British Bangers and Mash or the delicious German beef dish ‘Sauerbraten.’ The
new themed nights will be available on all Fred Olsens ships from the 2nd of July.

Justin Kelly 11 Jan 2018

Email: news@leinsterexpress.ie

The Ministry of Science UK were on hand at the official opening ceremony of the 2018 BT Young Scientist Exhibition at the RDS on Wednesday.

The science performers opened the event, which is in its 54th year, with a bang, three bangs in fact, with their explosive balloons.

Each balloon was filled with a different ratio combination of hydrogen and oxygen, and the performance had people covering their ears as they boomed throughout the arena.

The Ministry of Science also performed with liquid nitrogen as they whetted the appetite of attendees for the abundance of creativity, scientific marvel and technology on show at the longest running event of its kind in the world. Leinsterexpress

We believe there is a Scientist, Engineer or Inventor in all of you...

Ministry of Science Live is not your ordinary science show - it comes with a bang. It comes with a whoosh. But most of all it comes with a Hovercraft built on stage... and we need one of you to go boldly where no person has gone before...... France. From liquid nitrogen frozen flowers to hydrogen bottle rockets fired right at you the show will take you on a journey using demonstrations and a few loud bangs to lead the way.

From the creative team behind Brainiac Live, Guinness World Records Officially Amazing Science Live and a whole load of other educational shows with an anarchic twist - Ministry of Science Live is not to be missed....

Got a class of budding Einstein's in your midst? If so, the Ministry of Science Live workshops could be just the experience they need!

Human cannonballs, hydrogen bottle rockets and how to create a smoothie using an exercise bike! It's laughter and learning at the same time, so come on - grab your lab coats!

Ministry of Science Live! Pocket Sized Science is a 60 minute experience inclusive of a 30 minute mini show and a 30 minute workshop with hands on experiences available for schools. Looking at the different types of energy and the inventors and engineers who have shaped the modern world. The team will take all those that attend on a journey of science, engineering and invention.

  • Scene 1 Introduction to the different types of energy Presenters will lead the audience through the different types of energy utilising AV content as a method of explanation.

  • Scene 2 Electricity The presenters will use a Van de Graff generator and Plasma Ball to demonstration both static and current electricity.

  • Scene 3 Engineering How Christopher Cockerill invented the Hovercraft is looked at with the scene ending with the construction of a Hovercraft live on stage.  A member of the audience is then brought up to be the pilot.

The Workshop Pocket Sized Science

  • Health and Pedal Power The attendees will get a chance to power they're way to a smoothie.  A blender attached to a bike will see the attendees pedal to power the blender which will create a smoothie.

  • Friction - Tug of War Two phonebooks interlinked will be used to explain friction via a tug of war game.

  • Electricity - Star Wars The Plasma ball will be used to explain static again by using fluorescent tubes to create "light sabres".

Abu Dhabi Science Festival returns in November
More than 70 children's workshops and shows will be staged at Khalifa Park and Al Ain Zoo

Oct 16th 2017

One of the emirate’s most popular festivals dedicated to all natural things that pop, fizzle and crackle returns to a new location November 9-18.

The seventh edition of the Abu Dhabi Science Festival will be hosted at Khalifa Park, which organisers say offers more space — 500,000 square metres — to accommodate the growing number of children’s workshops and stage shows. The festival will simultaneously be held daily at the Al Ain Zoo.

“This year we have a very rich programme filled with exceptional interactive activities,” said Sanad Humaid Ahmed, vice-chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) innovation committee.

Children, who must be accompanied by an adult, will have the chance to engage with 71 hands-on activities and exhibits — including 40 that are being staged for the first time. Classic favourites — such as “Dig Up a Dinosaur,” which introduces youngsters to archaeology and “the Secret Life of Coral,” which teaches them about sea creatures — are also making a return appearance.

Adek director general Dr Ali Al Nuaimi said the festival has become an essential annual tradition to engage children with science.

“The festival, in its seventh annual year, has proven its success,” said Dr Al Nuaimi. “The number of participants are on the rise, the events are not just increasing in number, but are also increasing in diversity and in excitement. Its effects and its dimensions are of the utmost importance in helping to spark and ignite an interest in science, mathematics, engineering and technology in children.”

But the festival is not only for youngsters, he said, but also for parents who have a role to play in supporting children to pursue stem.

“We want every parent in the UAE to be someone who supports their children in order for the children to be innovative and inventive,” said Dr Al Nuaimi. “I think this is the real investment that will cause a major transformation in how we encourage science and technology for our children.”

There is a critical need for Emirati scientists and engineers, said Adel Albuainain, chief executive of Dolphin Energy, which is one of the sponsors.

“Our country needs experts in science and technology and mathematics and engineering to move us forward and to reach our goals,” said Mr Albuainain.

Regular tickets cost Dh10 for children and Dh5 for adults and can be purchased online at www.adsftickets.com. Fast-track tickets cost Dh50 for children and Dh40 for adults. A limited number of bookable workshops and shows are available for purchase online. The National UAE

'We have done 9 cruises with Thomson, which we would highly recommend but thought we needed to try another company. The entertainment was good and probably the best show team we have experienced.' jolai1 www.cruisecritic.co.uk Sail Date: July 2017 Review: 29th July 2017

'The Neptune Lounge features lavishly-costumed revues of West End musical favourites, as well as guest stars from the small screen and big stage. On my cruise the ‘Ministry of Rock’ production by the Balmoral Show Company was little short of ground-breaking for this cruise line. This show was edgy and the singers and dancers gave competent performances of great rock anthems. Special ‘Theme Nights’ – such as British Night; 60’s and 70’s Night; and Tropical Night bring their own magic – none more so than the Crew Show.' Gary Buchanan Cruise 118.com

'The entertainment was good. The Balmoral show Company were excellent and they worked hard throughout the cruise. We had a singer called Jon Moses, he had a beautiful voice. We had a comedian/magician Martin Daniels (son of the late Paul Daniels). Brenda Collins was from the North East she was a very funny lady and a couple of other acts.  www.cruise.co.uk Sail Date: July 2017

'Evening shows were very good, particularly enjoyed the British sing-along night, the two new shows and Barnaby, the comedian, also the young Scottish singer. Band in the Neptune lounge (Fourth Dimension) were excellent, as were the Rosario trio (classical).' Fred Olsen Website, Review: May 27th 2017

'The evening entertainment was excellent. This cruise saw the arrival of a new showteam who were superb and performed some fantastic shows, it was hard to believe that they had only just joined the ship and were in their set up period. The Neptune lounge and the Morning Light pub benefited from a new sound system.' Fred Olsen Website, Review: May 25th

'The entertainment and Activities provided on board was phenomenal. Fantastic staff and incredible shows every night to end the day on a good note. The Balmoral Show Company, who were new to the cruise were amazing and had incredible voices. Barnaby (the ship comedian) was very funny and Matt Cairnes (another vocalist) was fab too. 4th Dimension, who played in the Lido Lounge every night, were great and always got the crowd up dancing of an evening.' UK’s Ministry of Science team returns to Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 12th March, 2017 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi Festival has welcomed the UK’s Ministry of Science to Abu Dhabi for the third year, with the company’s latest show, ‘The World is One Classroom’ which featured two performances at the Abu Dhabi Theatre.

In ‘The World is One Classroom’, the Ministry of Science explored scientific phenomena. 'Ministry of Science Live to Delight Residents'

SHARJAH: The UK's famous 'Ministry of Science Live' is coming to Sharjah with a brand new show and some bizarre new experiments to spread the word that physics is fantastic, chemistry is crazy and that every child has the chance to become a life-changing scientist.

Under the theme 'The world is one classroom', many elements of the 60-minute production range from the traditional science subjects such as weight, speed and gravity to the truly outlandish, including fire tornadoes, elephants' toothpaste, the future of travel and exploding ping pong balls. 'The world is one classroom' will also illustrate how inventors, engineers and scientists have shaped the modern world we live in and how the children themselves can be the spark that ignites a new way of working or living.

The show, being held at Masrah Al Qasba Theatre from Feb.21-23, is ultimately aimed at making science educational, accessible and entertaining to children, helping them to associate the subject with a positive mindset rather than a nervous attitude to a class which can seem ominous to many students.

It is the first time the 'Ministry' will have been to Sharjah, bringing the message to both parents and students that science progress is a global movement and that everybody can contribute to the future development of the world - irrespective of race, gender, religion or location.

Sultan Shattaf, Manager of Al Qasba, Sharjah's premier leisure, tourism and family destination, said: "We are delighted to host such a dynamic show. It's a great addition to our portfolio as we continue to draw more global events and entertainment." The Gulf Today 20th Feb 2017

Gulf Today 25th Feb 2017

Sharjah 24: The 'Ministry of Science Live' has concluded its run of famous scientific shows to a host of Sharjah school children and members of the public with a series of extravagant new experiments and demonstrations to demystify the finer points of science.

Under the theme 'The World is one Classroom', the show demonstrated that anyone can become a life-changing scientist, regardless of race, gender, or location and showed how many of science's most famous figures came from a diverse range of backgrounds. The 60-minute interactive production included a variety of carefully engineered explosive experiments  and chemical reactions, with constant audience participation.

Some of the more unusual operations included fire tornados, elephants' toothpaste, the future of travel and exploding ping pong balls. And using subjects as diverse as human rockets, liquid nitrogen and renewable energy, 'The World is One Classroom' also showed how science plays a part in our daily lives, making it accessible, relevant and fun for the children.

The show, which was held at Al Qasba from February 21-23, was hailed as a great success. As morning shows were especially dedicated to schools, and evening shows on the following days at 7:00 pm were for public.

Sultan Shattaf, Manager of Al Qasba, Sharjah's premier leisure, tourism and family destination, said: "The Ministry of Science Live is an excellent example of how international acts now choose to come to Sharjah in general and Al Qasba in particular for their appearances. For the organisers it is a natural choice to attract a wide and varied audience and for our citizens, residents and visitors, it is an opportunity to watch globally acclaimed productions. With each new performance that comes to Al Qasba, the greater our presence on the cultural, intellectual and educational stage. Through educational events and shows we host or organize, we want to be key players in the new generation's learning experience."

Al Qasba is home to a range of world-class facilities and tourist attractions, including restaurants and cafes, the Kids Fun Zone, the Al Qasba Musical Fountain, the Eye of the Emirates Wheel, the Maraya Art Centre and two libraries, among other amenities designed to meet the needs of visitors of all ages and from all communities. Fun science show captivates students in Sharjah
UK's famous 'Ministry of Science Live' show at Qasba theatre till Thursday

Sharjah: Exciting explosive experiments at the first UK 'Ministry of Science Live' show in Sharjah captivated hundreds of students and their families on Tuesday.

The show, currently under way at Masrah Al Qasba theatre, showed students how the subject of science is fun and should be enjoyed rather than feared.

Held under the theme 'The World is One Classroom,' the 60-minute production unmasked many of the mysteries of science through simple but captivating experiments that included fiery tornadoes, exploding ping pong balls and a CO2 fire extinguisher-powered spinning chair.

The show saw presenters throw beach balls into the audience while dropping a bowling ball onto the stage to show the concepts of mass and weight. They also set balloons full of hydrogen and oxygen alight to reveal how gases support combustion and created a mini volcanic eruption by mixing volatile chemicals.

All of the experiments were undertaken with proper safety precautions.

The opening show saw more than 200 youngsters from Sharjah's Australian International School and other audience members, with the children excitedly interacting with the presenters who aimed to inspire their young minds to embrace the world of physics, geology, chemistry, astronomy and other scientific disciplines.

Sultan Shattaf, Manager of Al Qasba, said the show "is the perfect blend of entertainment and education, making the subject of science enjoyable through aurally and visually exciting explosive experiments and how the universe works".

He said the show is aimed at engaging with children's minds and encouraging them to learn and develop through the medium of fun.
Organisers said the show proved to be a highly interactive production that carried a central message that any child can become a great scientist, regardless of their race, gender or religion.

The Ministry of Science Live draws heavily on the inspiration of such scientific luminary figures as Neil Armstrong, Isaac Newton, Leonardo da Vinci, Marie Curie and Alexander Fleming as it interacts with its young audiences.

The final performance of the hour long show for the general public is on Thursday, at 7pm, with seats priced at Dh50. Tickets can be purchased from the Al Qasba information desk and further information about the show can be found at the website: http://www.alqasba.ae. Gulf News Society 22nd Feb 2017
